Nice pictures. Deals Gap is practically in my backyard. It's 18 miles from my driveway to Tabcat Bridge, where you leave the lake and start up the hill. I've been through there once or twice myself. :D

Some trailer, some don't. Me, I've got some back trouble plus I've grown really bored of anything but a curvy road so this is one reason I bought the 07, it's light and easy to get on and off a trailer. It's also a hoot on a twisty road. The Dragon has its dangers and is best to ride in the morning during the week. Weekends in the summer it's just too crowded for me.

Thanks. By the way Goblin; who took those pictures of you on the bike? It looks like it was shot professionally; perfectly cropped and clear.
Is there a photographer along the road? What's he charge? If it was done by a friend, good job.

There are several photographers who have made this a business. Killboy.com was the first then others came along like 129slayer.com and 129photos.com etc.... This round I bought from two different companies, one was 129slayer but I'm not for sure they took the photo I posted. The way those guys are posting now they post the times the photos were taken so you can go to the time and date you went through the Gap and find your pics. Just try and remember the time. They've got it broken down to the minute. Some advice for what's it worth, if it's you first time going to Deals Gap, give yourself time to get used to it don't push too hard the first few times through there. And weekday mornings are often the best for less crowds. I often go through it and not come up behind anyone and nobody behind me either. The worst is the Harley parades that go through there, long lines of slow poke bikes. There are a number of pull-offs for slower moving vehicles to pull over to allow the faster one through and often times people in cars do just that which is nice.

Don't forget to mention that law enforcement has a propensity for patrolling the area and is sometimes fairly heavy on weekends. I was through there today between the hours of 1-3:30 or so and there were two Blount county and one THP in the area. The entire road's speed limit is 30 MPH and even at that speed can be quite fun....just don't nail it on some of the few straightaways. THP usually has no sense of humor when it comes to speeding and Blount county officers will ticket you also, but will usually give you a little more lee way, unless you are passing (the whole road is double yellow), or doing something stupid. They don't like coming around a corner and seeing someone with a knee on the deck and will frown on that. Both the THP and Blount county have motorcycle patrols up there too, so it's not just looking for a marked cruiser. Use some common sense and ride responsibly and you will be OK.

This road is a good challenge, but there are far better roads here. Southeast KY, Southwest VA, East TN, Western NC, Northeast GA, Northwest SC is prime motorcycle country. It's one of the main reasons I still live here. :-D

Wrecking is a real ovary buster, or ball buster if you're a male. ;) How come you can't get back in the saddle? If you don't mind me asking that is. Yeah, I'm hoping to acquire some new skills. I'd really like a more advance class, but there aren't any in my area I'm aware of.

that is exactly what it is, a ball buster. right now i can't get back on cause I'm going through a whole deal with the insurance company cause they claimed I was at fault when the trucker ran a stop sign into a main 50mph street leaving me with nowhere to go but I'm hoping within the next month I'll be back on the road

Damn. I'm sorry to hear about the insurance. I loathe insure companies. I didn't have to use mine due to lack of damage - I'm just gonna pay for it myself. Well, I hope you're back in the saddle sooner than you expect!

Let us locals know when you're coming, and we can suggest roads to take. :)
I'll be down in that area May 20-23. Staying in Gatlinburg for two nights and Chattanooga for two more. I know Deal's Gap and Blue Ridge Parkway are on our list. Seems like Devil's Triangle isn't too far and Moonshiner28 is quite close. Any other routes that aren't too far that I don't want to miss? It'll be me on my FZ-07 and my brother on his SV650N.
