Oddly, the "issues" referenced there were addressed nearly 3 years ago. Not sure why something that old is suddenly a "huge issue". In fact, the breach referred to occurred before this site was even sold to VS, and was thus not part of that breach at all.

The first hack occurred in 2016 and the company who now owns you and hosts this website on their servers didn't even know they got their members hacked until it was discovered that Hackers were selling forum members info on hacker websites.

But since then, Verticlescope/Motorcycle.com forums got hacked again in late 2017. 2nd Breach at Verticalscope Impacts Millions — Krebs on Security

And looking at the forum structure, you are still open for attack. This forum's registration and login pages aren't even Encrypted/HTTPS , which is free and easy to do now days, BTW.

Plus you are still using the old outdated recaptcha 1 on your registration page, Google doesn't even support that anymore, it's widely exploited by spammers and hackers.

HTTPS is being worked on. It turns out that just switching it on can easily break many forum features. One of my other sites rolled HTTPS out last week, and the Front Page of that site is still a jumbled mess as a result. And several commonly used forum features quit working, as well. Those bugs, on that site, are being worked on. If it weren't for problems like that, we'd have HTTPS on all our sites already.

I've also been notified that VS is rolling out a new signup page and process that will hopefully address those issues as well.

I know it's a scary world out there, but let's not jump overboard over a very, very slim chance of potential issues.
