Hi everybody, i'm from Montréal, Québec. I am 40 and i currently own a Yam Fazer 8 2011. i have 11 years experience on-road/6 years off/road. I am very interested to replace my bike by a FZ-07 2015. Little scared because this bike is described as a beginner bike, thats why i'm here, to find answer and ask FZ07 owners opinions. Welcome! I've ridden a few different bikes (Ninja 500, Honda Magna 750, VStrom 650), and I think the reason the FZ-07 is a good "beginner" bike is the affordable price, light weight, and comfortable ergonomics. I personally wouldn't recommend it as a beginners bike for a first time rider, because it has enough torque to cause trouble if you aren't careful.
That said, the FZ8 was the bike I was looking seriously at, until they came out with the 07. I haven't ridden one, so I can't compare, but I know it has more power, and is quite a bit heavier.
The FZ-07 is a hoot to ride, has plenty of power, and I think you would love it.

I think you will like the power coming on the F Z-07 in lower RPM than you have on the Fazer 8. The FZ -07 will be lighter and more nimble than your Fazer. The Fazer 8 is a great bike and will produce more power at higher RPM than the 07. But the 07 is so much fun!

thank you for the answer Mike and Texan, i think i will do the move this week. the torque difference is not huge, 60.8 ft-pound for the fazer an 50ft-pound for the FZ07. That one of the reason why i want to change for a 2-cyl, more low RPM torque, with the fazer, you need to keep it over 6000 rpm to have a good feeling. Looking for the white one or the grey.....very hesitant between the 2

bonjour! i'm also from Montreal and brand new rider. I chose the FZ-07 as my first ever bike and I don't regret it one bit. Don't worry about the power because in our mandatory riding courses we've dealt with bikes with that much power already. The FZ-07 just has that power straight from the gate so you gotta be smoother with the throttle but otherwise, not a worry.

If you have any other questions (in french if you prefer), feel free to contact me. We'll go for a ride someday :)

flag me down if you ever see me (taken at canal lachine)
