I had already changed out the stock exhaust for the full Akrapovic titanium (787.45 RevZilla). I installed that myself. Had the filter and Power Commander(331.95 RevZilla)installed at the dealer's when the recall work was done. Filter stage 2 cover(219.15 DNA filters)
Other mods - evotech clutch and break lev, rad cover, frame sliders, tail tidy, rear peg removal blank. Put all that stuff on myself.
Too much for a 7k bike I know, I'm a sick individual. :)
Cheers.

can you run the bike without the PCV or filter?
John, after adding a full system to almost any bike, you need some way to modify the Air/Fuel ratio or the motor will be running in a lean condition. How lean? You can't tell for sure without having either a dyno run or the auto-tune setup from Power Commander. There may be other systems out there also, but I used the P.C. as an example. Running lean will certainly not do the motor any favors and there is always a possibility, albeit not likely unless the bike is run very hard in hot conditions, that you could burn a hole in the pistons from being too lean. Again, not very likely unless......

What you will experience running an aftermarket exhaust without somewhat proper tuning with a fuel controller is constant popping on decel every time.

I have new grips but not installed yet. You can run the bike without the PCV but when you change the exhaust and filter it changes the fuel/air mix and the PCV allows you to remap the ECU for your specific parts. I'm not an expert but that's what I believe to be close to true lol. I'll put some pics up later.

thank you both for the detailed answer - I am just starting to get more familiar with motorcycle building ( i have a great deal of car building experience, but that was years ago), so i figured that i can ask the guys in the know.

I want to make these modifications and just trying to learn the best options available - some one told me that i could add a slip-on and it would be much easier - not sure if this is correct of the bast option.

Sound slike the best option is to go for the full change-out.

What exhaust systems did you guys use?

You are NOT actually remapping the ECU (unless you get it flashed....then there is no real need for the PCV), you are "piggy-backing" the ECU's signal for fueling the bike. The ECU sends out the appropriate signals to the fuel injectors, but if you have the Power Commander installed, those signals go to the P.C. and it modifies them according to the map that is loaded into it, then sends the signals on to the fuel injectors for the proper A/F ratios.
