I wear a hi-vis t shirt when i ride until I buy a jacket, the guys I ride with are breaking my balls. I was thinking of buying my jacket hi-vis should I or will I look odd with this bike?

I never see anyone riding with hi-vis? any of you riding with hi-vis?

I know how jaded this sounds, but I've learned not to trust anything to make me more visible. Traffic morons won't see you if they're not looking for you. No headlight, hi-viz errthang, or anything else is going to help. It's ultimately up to you to ride safely, anticipate problems, and have an "out" planned at all times.
Do not rely on something to passively make you safe. You have to rely on yourself to be safe. Ride like you are invisible all the time, no matter what colors you are wearing. It doesn't matter what kind of Hi-Visibility jacket you are wearing if the driver next to you is text messaging and swerves into you. They are looking at their phone, or the radio, or the driver that is swerving into them.

Head on a swivel and always attentive is the best way to stay safe. Hi-Vis will help to an extent for people who are looking for you, but it is up to you to look for them. In a collision, they win.

also any good deals on mesh jackets please let me know.

I have been looking at the Anthem for Hi-Viz

It all depends on what kind of cut you are looking for. I really like Dainese fits though.

that's more than double the price of the shadow scorcher mesh jackets?
is it junk?
A jacket is better than no jacket. I do not have any experience with this company, so it is tough to tell.

When it comes to gear, I am of the school of thought that no matter what I spend on a jacket, it is cheaper than the skin grafts... Buy as much as you can afford. The quality is usually better when you spend up. I know that with helmets, a lot of the better companies will have a replacement clause if you go down in one of their helmets. You can replace the helmet at a discount. Bell Helmets - Crash Replacement There might be something with jackets as well.

Clothing Green Outerwear Jacket Sleeve
its a very nice jacket. it fits me very well not baggy at all, it fit nice and tight without cramping you. they run a little small, it comes with a zip out rain and wind liner also ce elbow, shoulder and a ce back armor. plenty over air flows through it. I know the rain liner works it rain for about 5 minutes and I was dry. the jacket is very bright and look nice with the black trim, its also got nice reflective piping through out the jacket. you got to be nuts not to drive in hi -vis I see it work. people would pull out a little a look up and they stop. this is the shadow jacket at Competition Accessories they have it on sale now for $79.95 with out any promo codes now.

Although part of a small minority of riders in my area, and after a couple years riding with black gear, I now ride with hi-vis helmets and jackets. It makes a difference out there on the road.

"nicky neon" would be awesome! I get generic wisecracks like "tennis ball head," once in a while a much less printable comment, but mostly very positive reactions. You're a young guy like me (54), and comments that might have bothered me years ago are like water off a duck now. Hi-vis gear is one important component among many to be as safe and visible as possible on the road. I'm pleased you took notice to my hi-vis helmet next the to the FZ-07 on the Yamaha Demo Days thread.

Nice catch!
now get hi-vis pants :)
Interesting thought. Don't have any statistics to support this next comment, but I believe the most effective use of hi-vis to reduce a rider's "invisibility" is on the helmet, closely followed by the torso. Not to say it won't help at all with visibility below the waist, though.
yeah I don't think pants would help too much too low and hidden, a hi-vis jacket is the largest area too be spotted, all open to be seen nothing hidden . I think a helmet would be a little bit better then pants would. i think a helmet has a small area too be seen, also theres a large opening were the clear visor is so theres no hi-vis there. my 2 cents is to get a hi-vis jacket to be seen.
