Come on guys/gals! This should have been the first thing up. I would do it, but I've never done an oil change on a bike. I fully intend on it after I get my first service done and put on the miles. And I was REALLY hoping to come here to find out how. But as of now that's not gonna happen. What do I need to do, ask nicely?

Dear Forum members,
I would really really like it if someone could start an oil change thread. I'd be so happy. I've never been part of a motor cycle forum that had one before and I hear all the other bikers talk about them...sniffle* They sound like so much fun. It's all I've ever wanted. It could have a big list of all the filters I could use. The types of oil weights to use as the climate changes. And we could argue about using synthetic or conventional too. Even the occasional troll to start a bunch of nonsense would be ok. Someone could even take some really bad pictures and circle things using Windows Paint to show us all where the oil drain plug is and the sight glass to check the level. I'm so excited just talking about it. Can we really really have one? Please? That's all...

Thanks for the link though. Good stuff. Don't know how I missed that. It's exactly what I expected an oil change thread to be. Maybe who ever created it should have named it "Official oil change thread!!!"

Ive been using amsoil 0w-40 semi blend in my raptor700 for the last 4 years and have had no problems with it. It is designed for wet clutchs. What are peoples thoughts on this product?

To change the oil, warm the bike up to operating temp. Remove drain bolt. Remove filter. Replace drain bolt and filter. Open filler cap and fill with oil. Simple right! Or you could always consult the service manual. As for oil and filter type, its mostly what you perfer. Heavier weight for warmer and lighter weight for colder. I think. Cant remember.
Edit: just checked and yes, lighter for colder. As i mentioned above i use 0W40.Its good from -40 to +35 celcius
