I am thinking of installing some frame sliders, but am realizing the only way to do this would be to remove the bolt that secures the motor to the frame. Since the motor acts as a stress member on the bike this connection is very important. I am sure it was secured at the factory using a certain amount of torque. Also by removing it, I'm thinking the motor might shift a little away from the frame and I would have a hard time aligning the two again. Does anyone know of any sliders that can be installed without removing these bolts? Also, I was thinking of just installing some caps. I know the caps would be purely cosmetic, but they would give the bike a more finished look. When I first saw the FZ, I thought a cap should be installed there anyway.

These don't require you to take off any of the bolts....

They are flush fit with O-ring seals and they use the drainage holes in the frame to make sure they are locked on and secure. I had the same concern as you with taking off the factory bolt then I found these and was sold. Just ordered mine so I really can't say how well they will perform but I've asked around and I got replies from a few people that bought them. The recommendations have been positive.
