I like what you are doing to your bike.I recently ordered the (close enough) color matching Yamaha front and rear red intake meshes for mine and to be perfectly honest, makes it look like closer to a ducati.(these https://www.yamahapartsandaccessories.com/product/details/steel-mesh-side-covers?b=Street+Motorcycle&d=28&f=2015|212 and https://www.yamahapartsandaccessories.com/product/details/steel-mesh-air-intake-covers?b=Street+Motorcycle&d=28&f=2015|212 ) I also have a set of the Yamaha engine sliders waiting for me at my 600 mile maintenance and possibly a front cowling if i like the way it looks.(this https://www.yamahapartsandaccessories.com/product/details/fz-07-engine-guards?b=Street Motorcycle&d=28&f=2015|212 and possibly this https://www.yamahapartsandaccessories.com/product/details/fz-07-front-cowl?b=Street Motorcycle&d=28&f=2015|212) but probably not because i found a double bubble windscreen which may not fit with the cowling. Ive also been looking for any sliders possible and available (i found R&G ones), adjustable rear steps, radiator wing/fairing (i found a british company that makes these that look beautiful which is why i mention it), and possibly a rear seat eliminator. Those are the visual things i want to change. And this is what i pretty much want it to look like (http://www.jesterstrickbits.co.uk/product_images/a/548/1902971_688667974530666_3949487727681188922_n__15043_zoom.jpg)
Performance wise, this is my plan. Get a fuel commander (available in august), take off the air intake cover to allow greater air into the engine, put on a akrapovic exhaust (available august) or maybe a different bolt on if ones available, then hopefully have some sort of 6" at the very most swing arm extension. The swing arm may not be necessary if i can find a way to just get rid of the back seat.
During the install of the mesh parts, I had all of the tank protectors and all of the rear plastic off and it looked really strange. theres a lot of technology shoved inside this little tiny motorcycle so theres wouldnt be too much to strip off of it.
Maybe you should have just bought a Ducati!I should have video taped it but tbh im pretty rough with things and adhd when i do things so it wouldn't have made much sense and the fine detail "may not look pretty" like if u really look at the whole under area. Yes and no they held in place by the weird metal washer looking things that have 5 spike going inside to anchor onto the plastic posts which keeps them in place. Those are quite difficult if you've dealt with them before. I haven't. The mesh covers slide under them and act more like cover or protectors from crap hitting those plastic parts. There's no real need for them. But they really tie in the colors well. I'm also considering painting my frame red to make it look even more like a Ducati.
Where did you order the radiator wings from?I recently ordered the (close enough) color matching Yamaha front and rear red intake meshes for mine and to be perfectly honest, makes it look like closer to a ducati.(these https://www.yamahapartsandaccessories.com/product/details/steel-mesh-side-covers?b=Street+Motorcycle&d=28&f=2015|212 and https://www.yamahapartsandaccessories.com/product/details/steel-mesh-air-intake-covers?b=Street+Motorcycle&d=28&f=2015|212 ) I also have a set of the Yamaha engine sliders waiting for me at my 600 mile maintenance and possibly a front cowling if i like the way it looks.(this https://www.yamahapartsandaccessories.com/product/details/fz-07-engine-guards?b=Street Motorcycle&d=28&f=2015|212 and possibly this https://www.yamahapartsandaccessories.com/product/details/fz-07-front-cowl?b=Street Motorcycle&d=28&f=2015|212) but probably not because i found a double bubble windscreen which may not fit with the cowling. That is going to be my next purchase. How many of you are doing the tale tidy / rear fender eliminator?
I've taken off all blinkers and changed them to amber colored led strips. My license plate is mounted on my passenger foot peg mount. Crudely, for now. I have rgbs (color changing LEDs) mounted under my side panels. Red looks the coolest
Plans for later include:
New levers
New side panels -yes I took her down:|
New seat ^
I might change up the gearing but I do love how it rides now.
Very happy with the FZ
