Anyone knows anything about recent Yamaha recall? When picking up my bike at the service today, I was told that Yamaha has found some issues with battery/charging on the FZ-07. Supposedly, Yamaha will be sending out notice letters to owners once they have a 'fix'.

yup, i just bought FZ-07. but they will deliver it. They said there were some problems about battery, so Yamaha recall Fz07

Someone reported weeks ago that they smelled plastic under the seat related to the battery terminal. Apparently the MT-07 is being recalled for this: http://carnews.beforward.jp/searchs/detail/entry_id=235164 I suppose you could just check to see if yours is OK.

That's strange. Maybe there is something else going on...perhaps with the stalling issue reported earlier, cause the battery terminal issue should be a quick fix provided Yamaha has sent out the fix to dealers. Actually, if they are addressing the stalling issue, that too should be a quick fix, but they have to have the software first. Could be they have decided to get the software available first, then do a large recall as well as fix any bikes before they go out. That exact thing occurred with my Zero S last year...stopping sales, then issuing a recall on owned bikes to download new software...firmware they called it. That's just a guess.

The fz07 will require new bartery wires. When you make the appointment for the service/oil change, remind them to order the wires. Takes up to 2 weeks to get them

I'm sure the dealer would prefer to do an oil change or something else in addition to the recall work, and my dealer did ask how many miles I have on my bike. I told him 1400 miles so he didn't say anything, but had I said 500 miles, I'm sure he would have tried to talk me into doing the warranty work along with a 600-mi. service...marketing don't you see? That's good though if you were planning to have the dealer do the first oil change. Saves you a trip.

Was pretty much resolved when I put in a Lithium Ion battery.
It had more room around it and I routed wires as I saw fit.

Got my recall notice today but I'm thinking I'll ignore it, I don't see how my positive cable could possibly get hung up between the seat and that bracket.

I had the cable changed yesterday - whole thing took 30 minutes and it was a good opportunity to install a trickle charger for the winter.

I have a charging issue with my battery. Also a starting problem now. Bike is in the shop is hope they find out what's going on!!!
